Excellent for a first submission

For you first submission this is actually really good.

It was pretty catchy and your instrument choice was effective. You seem to understand how the FX and stuff works (im hearing SO much reverb :p) so I suggest maybe working on the EQ of the song. The bass is really drowning out the rest of the song.

I liked the pads in the song, but they sound really familiar. What you can do to make it sound more unique is combine different pads and play them together.

The intro was a bit long but I REALLY like when the song picks up at 2:35.
Considering the song was 6 minutes long, I was expecting it to get repetitive, but I'm surprised it wasn't at all, it was really interesting to listen to.

I have been doing this for awhile. :P And for the longest time, I thought I was EXCELLENT, That is, until I realize Newgrounds had a section full of musicians. :P I was blown away.

But I do understand effects, and the bass saturation was likely my compensation for doodoo headphones. :D

I'll get back to work on it for a reentry.

Excellent concept, you really nailed it. I can see this in a movie or a flash.

Your choice of instruments was great, the flute/pipe or w/e gave a nice exotic Oriental feel and the beat was an excellent addition without taking over the song.

The EQ is excellent, the mix was really strong. My only complaint is it got a bit repetitive down the road. Sometimes a song doesn't need to be long to be good, you gotta be careful you don't overdo it.

Thank you, HMS! I'm glad you liked this! I'd really like to see someone use this in their flash, or even if they made a flash about the story would be great. The instruments I used seem to be pretty popular, which I'm surprised I got right with my first real track. I know it's repetitive, but I like longer songs and I got a bit too tired of this song to add new things to spice it up. Maybe I'll work on that later.

Every 8-bit song is amazingly epic, it's the forgotten genre by many :p good old NES

This sounds simply amazing, super catchy and never gets boring, it's what music is about :D

Haha, I've always loved 8-bit music, and then I came across this beautiful free VSTi called Peach (you should seriously try it out!) which synthesizes 8-bit tunes perfectly. Of course, the dumbass that I am, I forgot all about it until a few days ago. :P

When I found it, I felt it would be wrong not to make a song with it, so I wrote this little sucker, and I have to admit I'm happy with the way it turned out. I'm really glad you think it's good!

Pretty nice..

I personally don't like rap, but it's pretty catchy, don't know how to say this, but your rapping isnt great, some of the other stuff I've listened to and some rappers I've seen live have a more powerful voice. You don't really hit the same emotions.

Everything else in the song was pretty epic, well done.

Megamix? nice!

Excellent job, this is really one of your highlight songs. Amazingly catchy like all your songs, stayed interesting throughout and your FX were pretty amazing, mix was perfect. The hats in the beat feel a bit generic and just felt like they needed and effect twist but barely noticeable anyways. I liked the piano-like synth at around 1:20, that whole part reminded of that DDR song, castles in the sky.

On a technical level, the quality was excellent and there was no interference or noise and no clipping as far as I could tell.

Melody gets a little repetitive at some points but either way, the things you kept adding covered it up, I was actually looking for the repetition so that's probably why I'm picking on it :p

The ending is really the main part I dont like, I hate anything that ends with a high pass cuz it hurts my poor ears :( a low pass on that part wouldve done wonders especially with the beat IMO

Hmm, I really like this, but because this is a series and there's more to come I'll give this a 9.

Btw, Echos is almost done, one of my best songs yet, I'll pm you when it's done :D

Hmmm maybe your headphones arn't the best? I really mastered the hi pass a lot because i knew it would hurt some people's ears but i really made it listenable.

Excellent

Very professional, unique to many songs on the audio portal too, well done on all if not most parts, the mix is great, and a perfect balance. Fits perfectly with the MAC theme. Winning your first MAC ever is defenitely incredible :D

haha you should see the things I make in an hour..

An overall catchy song, everything fits in nicely together and has a nice tune to go along with it, so perfect dance and perhaps even rave music.

It did get a little repetitive and there seemed to be part when the intro of the song was repeated again exactly the way it started so :\

It needed another layer of super-cray awesomness and the melody of the song seemed to cry out for a soft piano breakdown and then build into super crazy awesomeness again but hey that's just me :p

It's very simple compared to your other songs but defenitely a work of art, well done :)

Fitting

Melodies, instruments, tempo, beat, lyrics... everything fits perfectly with the theme. You've got one hell of a chance at this competition.

You have a few more days to fix things up right? Well here are some suggestions.

First and foremost, I say this in the nicest way possible ^__^ :

You can't sing very well :D
The vocals were ok but either way they weren't mixed into the song very well, maybe if you eq it a bit, add some chorus, or a vocoder or something else thatll blend the song in a bit better and it'll smooth things out.

There were points when I wanted to hear the actual song a bit louder and the vocals were just overpowering it.

Bottom line:

Fix up with mixing the vocals in and you're set!

You were obviously going for some kind of 8-bit song but you didn't capture the essence of 8-bit which is kickass but simple melodies.

You had too much going on for an 8-bit and it was a big mess in some places.

It was pretty catchy in a lot of places though :D

So this is what you lighties have been cooking over there... the darkies are a bit behind then i guess :p

This really captures the Light, fits great for the collab. My only complaint, the lead synth feels a bit hollow and not as strong as it feels like it should be.
